MedLife enters the national in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer program

MedLife was officially admitted into the national in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer program, conducted by the Ministry of Health.

For each couple accepted in the program, the Ministry will financially support a single IVF procedure, in two stages: 4,920 lei after carrying out the fertilization procedure which involves taking the oocytes through follicular puncture, collecting the sperm and processing it, insemination of the oocytes and embryo transfer. The sum of 1,230 lei will be granted after the confirmation of the completion of the IVF / ET procedure with a pregnancy, followed by the birth.

How do I apply for IVF at MedLife?

Couples wishing to participate in this program can submit their files to the headquarters of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Assisted Reproduction Center within the Grivita MedLife, every Wednesday, between 6 pm and 8 pm.

Responsible for the collection of these files is Mrs. Lara Andronescu, obstetrics-gynecology specialist. The medical file, respecting the inclusion criteria, will be registered by the Maternal Fetal Medicine Center and its copy will be sent to the Ministry of Health for evaluation.

The objective of the program is to treat couple infertility by applying the in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer procedure to a limited number of couples selected based on the cumulative fulfillment of the following eligibility criteria:

  • sterile couple, defined as the conjugal couple that did not have the capacity to reproduce without using contraceptive means for 2 years of conjugal life;

  • married couple for at least 2 years;

  • at least one of the members of the couple has Romanian citizenship, with a permanent residence in Romania;

  • at least one of the members of the couple has the quality of insured within the social health insurance system for at least 2 years;

  • none of the couple's members have a child in their life;

  • autologous couple (excludes donation of oocytes, sperm or surrogate mother);

  • woman's age between 24 and 40 years;

  • the body mass index of the woman with values ​​between 20-30;

  • ovarian reserve within normal limits proved by FSH and AMH.

"The entry of the Center for Maternal-Fetal Medicine into this national program is an extremely important step for us, because it means that we will be able to help a greater number of couples, who have not had the financial resources to access such a procedure so far. The necessary documents for the preparation of the files

  • legalized copies of the identity documents of the husband and wife;

  • certified copy of the marriage certificate;

  • the certificate issued by the health insurance house from which the quality of insured in the social health insurance system, for at least 2 years - issued after January 1, 2011;

  • medical certificate issued by the family doctor from which to show the height, weight and body mass index of the woman, issued after January 1, 2011;

  • medical analysis bulletins showing the value of FSH and AMH, issued after January 1, 2011;

  • medical documents resulting from the diagnosis of infertility of the applicant couple - issued after January 1, 2011.

Center for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Assisted Human Reproduction within MedLife, led by Dr. Dragos Albu - primary obstetrician-gynecologist, assistant professor, doctoral student in medicine, appeared as a consequence of the development of obstetrics and modern gynecology, comprising a multidisciplinary team of doctors, academics and doctors in medicine, who follow providing excellent medical services in 3 main directions: maternal and fetal medicine, assisted human reproduction and medical genetics.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine - deals with preconceptional counseling, screening of chromosomal abnormalities in the first trimester of pregnancy, screening of congenital abnormalities in the second trimester, using high performance ultrasound, invasive diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities (Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18, Trisomy 13) and Syndrome 13 genetics, by biopsy of chorionic villi and amniocentesis, pregnancy tracking, high risk pregnancy management.

Assisted Human Reproduction - integrated service of Reproductive Medicine comprising a team of specialists in assisted human reproduction, reproductive surgery, reproductive endocrinology, embryology, andrology, genetics, psychology and urology, who have already diagnosed and treated more than 1500 infertile couples, with a rate of 35% success in the case of in vitro fertilization, in which, as development lines, we note: the creation of the first andrology service, the possibility of in vitro fertilization with ICSI in patients with obstructive azoospermia through testicular puncture, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, approaching patients with recurrent abortions.

Medical Genetics - deals with the detection of genetic abnormalities and works in close connection with the first two.
